Updated Sept 21, 2024: Click here to see the Cross Ice Jamboree Schedule Evaluation Process: Evaluation skates allow first and second year players to participate in on-ice drills and activities. Players will not be evaluated, but the ice times are an opportunity to form equal teams based on the number of registered players. The skate will consist of multiple skills. Skills will include: balance, skating, stopping, and some fun games for the kids. We will have big groups of kids on the ice at the same time so we will be splitting the players into 3 or 4 groups and utilizing both halves of the ice to maximize time and space. Friday, Sept.27, 5-7pm, Aberdeen Rec Complex ** During the evaluation skates all players will be required to check in at the Redwings table. ** Each player will get a 60 minute skate ** Please ensure you arrive at the registration table at least 15 minutes prior to your ice time. ** You will be notified when your players ice time is prior to date. Placement: There will be Advanced and Beginner teams. Typically, second year U7 players and/or players with previous hockey experience are placed on Advanced teams. Whereas, first year U7 players or players new to hockey and/or skating are placed on Beginner teams. There may be some variations of this, but the goal is to create teams as even as possible. U7 Equipment: All U7 players that are on the ice for practices and/or games must be in full equipment. In addition, all players registered in Saskatoon Minor hockey MUST be wearing a neck guard at all times when on the ice. This is not optional. Coaching: Thank you to those who have already volunteered to coach! Your coordinator has reached out to most of you already, but if you are interested in coaching in any capacity, please visit the Redwings website and fill out the on-line coach application https://saskatoonredwings.ca/saskatoonredwingszone/ . SMHA’s Annual U7 Cross Ice Jamboree – Sunday, Sept.29 at Merlis Belsher Place: It is highly recommended you register your child in this fun-filled event. It’s a great opportunity to introduce your child to hockey before the regular season starts. This information has been emailed to all families by SMHA. All applications will be sent directly to SMHA as they make all groupings. Registration closes September 19. The Redwings Zone uses email to communicate, so please check your email frequently for updates. ** Only the primary email address listed when your player was registered will receive emails so it will be your responsibility to forward to spouses, grandparents, siblings, etc. as needed** There is also a lot of important information on the website so please ensure you are checking the website regularly for any new announcements. The Saskatoon Redwings website is: www.saskatoonredwings.ca If you have any questions or concerns along the way, please do not hesitate to contact your coordinator. (email above)CoachRegistration
